After completing his studies at Art Center of College of Design in 2005, photographer Alan Gastelum accepted a position assisting an iconic photographer. Working at this studio provided an experience that not only influenced Alan's approach to photography but also instilled in him the importance of professionalism and consistency within the creative process. In 2010, after 5 years of working on numerous advertising campaigns and editorial shoots, Alan made the move from Los Angeles to New York City.

The move to New York gave Alan the opportunity to merge traditional portraiture with his interest in the world of the artisan around him. He began to shoot a portrait series of the unique personalities that surrounded him in the Lower East Side. This helped him establish strong relationships with restaurateurs, craftsmen, designers, chefs and artists who began to trust his ability to capture their artistry on film.

After spending 8 years in New York, Alan's work appeared in The New York Times, WSJ Magazine, Architectural Digest, W Magazine, Travel + Leisure, National Geographic and Conde Nast Traveller, to name a few. Alan moved back to Los Angeles in 2016, where he currently resides.

With clients on both coasts, Alan now splits his time between New York and California, where he is expanding his photography and running a new photography studio with his wife.
